PAST EVENTS
Unbroken is the third poker tournament in Shalem Fund’s series of charity events.
The two events that preceded it demonstrated that the world of poker can become a powerful catalyst for social impact and meaningful support for the widows, widowers, and orphans of the IDF and security forces.
The first charity tournament in the series was held as part of the World Series of Poker’s WSOP Paradise in the Bahamas, led by the Shalem Fund in collaboration with the international poker community.
The event drew top-tier professional players, including Daniel Negreanu, Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier, Alan “Ari” Engel, and Isai Scheinberg, founder of PokerStars, who all joined together in an exceptional evening of community, remembrance, and giving.
Over $140,000 was raised during the event, with every dollar donated to the IDF Widows & Orphans Organization (IDFWO). Beyond its financial success, the evening reflected the solidarity and deep commitment of the global poker community to stand with families whose lives have been forever changed.
Following the success of WSOP Paradise, Shalem hosted its second fundraising poker tournament: Poker for the IDFWO, held at Israel’s leading poker school, House of Poker, in Bnei Brak.
The event brought together poker players and local supporters who gathered to play, connect, and raise money for the important cause. The buy-in was 1,000 NIS, with 60% of the amount donated directly to the IDF Widows & Orphans Organization, and the remainder covering event costs only.
The tournament raised 210,000 NIS, reinforcing the understanding that the Israeli poker community is a warm, committed, and generous one.
